Quickstart

Your first SMS verification in under 90 seconds — sign up, create an API key, get a code.

Introduction

Eveses gives you on-demand phone numbers for SMS verification. You request a number, the user (or your script) uses it to receive a one-time code, you read the code from the API, and you only pay if a code actually arrives.

This page walks you through your first end-to-end request in three small steps.

1. Create an API key

Sign in and open Account → API Keys. Click New key, name it (e.g. local-dev), and copy the value the dialog shows you. The token is only revealed once — store it in your password manager or a .env file straight away.

export EVESES_API_KEY="17|aBcDeFgHiJ…"

2. Order a number

Pick a country (ISO-2) and a service slug (telegram, whatsapp, discord, any, …) and POST to /v1/activations:

curl -X POST https://api.eveses.com/v1/activations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $EVESES_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"country": "ua", "service": "telegram", "duration_minutes": 5}'

The response carries the rented number and an activation id you'll use to fetch the code:

{"id":"9a1f2c3d-4e5b-6a7c-8d9e-0f1a2b3c4d5e","phone":"+380635551822","status":"waiting","price_cents":50,"expires_at":"2026-05-26T14:35:00Z"}

3. Read the SMS code

Use the phone number to trigger the verification flow inside the third-party app, then poll the activation until the code arrives:

curl https://api.eveses.com/v1/activations/9a1f2c3d-4e5b-6a7c-8d9e-0f1a2b3c4d5e \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $EVESES_API_KEY"

When the SMS arrives the response will contain an sms array with the OTP. Most providers deliver inside 30 seconds. If nothing arrives by the activation deadline, you are not charged.

{"id":"9a1f2c3d-4e5b-6a7c-8d9e-0f1a2b3c4d5e","phone":"+380635551822","status":"sms_received","price_cents":50,"expires_at":"2026-05-26T14:35:00Z","sms":[{"code":"123456","text":"Your code: 123456","received_at":"2026-05-26T14:30:14Z"}]}

Next steps

  • Stop polling, use webhooks — subscribe to activation.sms_received and let us push the OTP to you. See the Webhooks article.
  • Use an SDK — official PHP, JavaScript, Python and Go libraries are documented in SDKs.
  • Read about idempotency — wrap your create call in an Idempotency-Key so retries don't double-charge.
