How to check if a proxy is working
Test a proxy’s status, latency, exit IP, and anonymity level. Step-by-step, plus a free proxy checker.
Before you route real traffic through a proxy, you want to know it is alive, how fast it is, what IP it exits from, and whether it leaks that you are using a proxy. Here is how to check all four.
What to test
Alive: does it accept a connection and return a response? Latency: how much delay does it add? Exit IP: what address does the destination see? Anonymity: does it add headers (like X-Forwarded-For or Via) that reveal your real IP or that a proxy is in use? A good proxy is alive, fast, and does not leak.
Anonymity levels
Transparent proxies forward your real IP; anonymous proxies hide it but announce that a proxy is present; elite proxies look like an ordinary client. For scraping and privacy you want anonymous or elite. Our residential network presents as ordinary residential IPs.
Step by step
Enter the proxy as host:port (with credentials if required).
Run the proxy checker — it connects through the proxy from our server.
Read the status (alive/dead), latency in ms, the exit IP, and the anonymity level.
If it leaks your IP or is slow, rotate to another proxy or use a residential pool.
