URL encode
Percent-encode a string so it is safe inside a URL or query parameter. Free online URL encoder, plus when to use it.
Paste text and get its URL-encoded (percent-encoded) form, with unsafe characters escaped as %XX so they survive inside a URL or query string.
Encode values, not whole URLs
Percent-encode individual query-string values so characters like &, =, ?, and spaces do not break the URL structure. Encoding an entire URL would escape its own slashes and delimiters — encode the parts, then assemble.
The + vs %20 detail
In query strings a space is sometimes written as + and sometimes as %20. %20 is always valid; + only means space in the application/x-www-form-urlencoded context. When in doubt, %20 is the safe choice.
