WhatsApp verification with an API

Provision a number that can receive the WhatsApp OTP and complete verification programmatically — curl, JavaScript and Python.

WhatsApp sign-up sends a code by SMS (or a call). To automate it you need a number you can read that code from via an API.

Provision + read

curl -X POST https://api.eveses.com/api/v1/numbers/orders \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY" \
  -d '{"country":"in","mode":"activation","service":"wa"}'

The service code for WhatsApp is wa. Then poll for the code, or register a webhook:

const o = await eveses.orders.sms(order.order_id);
console.log(o.sms?.[0]?.otp);

India, Indonesia and Brazil have deep WhatsApp pools, but 190+ countries are available. Numbers start around $0.07 per OTP with refunds for misses.

Tips

  • WhatsApp sometimes prefers a voice call — pick a number/country that supports the SMS path, which the live availability on each service page reflects.
  • Finish the order once verified so you only pay for delivered codes.
