hektCaptcha stopped updating. An hCaptcha solver that still works
hektCaptcha was a free, open-source hCaptcha solver that ran an image model locally in the browser. Its author has paused updates, and a local model stops working as soon as hCaptcha changes its tasks.
The Eveses panel sends the challenge to be solved and writes the token back, so it does not depend on a model shipped inside the extension. Solves cost $0.58 per 1,000 and failed solves are free.
Local model versus solved remotely
A model inside an extension is free to run but frozen at the version you installed. hCaptcha changes its image tasks regularly, which is why unmaintained local solvers degrade. A remote solve costs a little and keeps working when the tasks change.
Permissions
Any captcha solver needs access to the pages you visit, because that is where the captcha is. The Eveses panel sends nothing anywhere until you press Solve, and then only the widget's sitekey and the page address the solve needs.
Switching over
- Remove or disable the old solver so two extensions do not try to answer the same widget.
- Open the panel on a page with hCaptcha; it shows the type and price it found.
- Press Solve and submit the form when the token is in.
Чего оно не делает
- Not free; each successful solve is charged.
- It needs a connection to Eveses to solve; nothing runs offline.
